ALL ABOARD FOR A GREAT AROUND THE WORLD PARTY.....



Travel around the world on a fantastic journey with this fun and educational party theme. Guests love the idea of traveling to foreign countries and having a party that takes their imagination to a foreign land will be a hit.

Have your guests come dressed as one of their ancestors or in the native costume of a country they have visited. Guest can wear any authentic clothing they may have.

Borrow wooden shoes from Holland, a sombrero from Mexico or a kimono from Japan.




INVITATIONS
• Purchase a world map and cut into sections. Print party information on back of map with driving directions.

• Purchase a variety of flags from different countries. With a felt tip marker, write party information on one side of flag. • Make boarding pass invitations and use airport lingo to address the invitation. Estimated time of arrival (time of party), flight number (telephone number), seating assignments (address), etc. • Make "Passports" books using several sheets of paper. "Stamp" party information on one of the pages. • Purchase postcards from different countries. Address them to each guest with party information on back.

Serve a variety of foods from different countries.
• MEXICO: Tacos, burritos, layered chicken enchilada casserole or quesadillas. • ITALY: Lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti, italian sausage lasagna, penne with basil and mozzarella, and garlic bread. • CHINA: Fried rice and egg rolls. • BELGIUM: Waffles. • SPAIN: Variety of tapas. Tortilla, chorizo, and queso manchego. • JAPAN: Sushi.
Cake • Serve a globe shaped cake. • Serve a rectangular shaped cake with a map design on top.

GAMES

CAPITAL IDEA Write the names of countries on separate 3 x 5 cards or on pieces of construction paper. Do the same with the countries' capital cities and place all the papers around the room Ask the guests to match a country and its capital by picking up the appropriate papers. The guests with the most correct, wins.

NAME THAT TUNE Play several songs from different countries. Have guests guess what country song is from. As a bonus, who sings the song.

HELLO-HOLA Make a list of "hello" or "good day" in several languages and a list of the languages. See if the guests can match the word to the language.

DECORATIONS
Before setting out to purchase decoration supplies look for items around your home to decorate with. Did you go on any vacations and bring home a souvenir? Do you have any friends that you can borrow items from? Consider the size and the color theme of your party. What kind of decorations would you like to display? Make a list of any decorations you would like to display before you purchase them. This will help you stay within budget.

• Use a variety of maps as posters on doors and walls. • Place flags from different countries on entrance pathway. • Have guests sign your passport when they enter. • Place travel magazines or brochures on coffee tables.


PARTY FAVORS • Imported candy from several different countries. • "Learn a new language" books. • "Pack" mini suitcases with a variety of party favors. • Postcards from different countries. • Small atlas. • Travel stickers.
