"COLOR" YOUR PARTY WITH THIS ARTIST THEME

"Paint the town Red" and have a colorful "Artist" party. What better way to show off your creativity than to design this Artist Party yourself. Show your party friends how fun a colorful celebration can be.

This party theme is perfect for any age. Children love to finger paint and create master pieces. Adults love and appreciate the details and beauty you see in nature, people, or far away places.

Set up your easels, organize your paints, pick your subject and lets get started.

INVITATIONS

ARTIST PALETTE: Materials: White construction paper. Scissors. Colored markers. On white construction paper, cut out the shape of an artist palette. Decorate with circular "paint" dabs. Write party information on back.

DECORATIONS
DECORATION SUPPLY LIST

• Set out postcards or posters of well known artists. • Set out books or catalogs on art. • Cluster art supplies: paint bottles in baskets, brushes or markiers in tin cans. Use as a centerpiece.

• Have an Art Fair or Art Auction with your guests’ masterpieces.

• Invite a well known artist or art gallery owner to your party. Have them tell your guest how their day in the "Art" world is like.

ACTIVITY: Materials: T-shirts or Tote Bags. Fabric Markers Have guest decorate their own t-shirts or tote bags with fabric markers. Guest can take home their artistic creation as a party favor.

ACTIVITY: Materials: 5x7 canvas. Paints. Paint brushes. Aprons or smocks. Have each guest paint their own art.

ACTIVITY: Set up some "blank canvases" for everyone to adorn. Put an old white sheet or heavy white paper tablecloth on the table, and spread a roll of paper on the ground or along a fence or an interior wall. The guests can decorate these during the party. Use paint brushes, foam stamps, potato prints, hand prints, and paint pens.

GAMES

SIDEWALK PICTIONARY: Before the party, make 3 x 5 cards of any person, place or thing related to art. Divide guests into 2 teams. Have each team draw a card and draw the person or thing with chalk on the sidewalk. The team with the most correct, wins.

BOARD PICTIONARY: Materials: 3x5 cards. Dry erase board. Expo Markers. Eraser. On 3x5 cards, write the name of a person, place or thing. Have enough cards for several guests to take several turns. Split guests into teams. The team with the most correct answers, win.

GUESS WHO?: Materials: Several copies of famous painters and their artwork. Have guests guess who the painters are and match their artwork.

FOODS Choose foods that you can prepare ahead so you can join your guests when they arrive. Have some appetizers, salads, or finger sandwiches premade to make your party less hectic and more enjoyable.

Serve a variety of colorful drinks and beverages in colorful mugs or glasses that match your artist theme. Make sure to have your bar well stocked to make your favorite signature drink. Most guests love to have a specialty drink, appetizers, and wonderful conversation. Two of our favorites are:
Orange-Cranberry Sprtizer Banana Daquiri Slush

DESSERTS:

Artist's Palette Cake

1 Baked 9-inch round cake. 2 cups white icing. Gel frosting, assorted colors.

Cut cake in the shape of an artist's palette. Frost with white icing. Using a 1 1/2-inch round cookie cutter, cut a thumb hole in the left-center of the cake. Use the cutter to lightly mark the circles on the cake, then fill with various gel frosting "paints".

ICE CREAM

Serve a variety of different colored ice creams with rainbow sprinkles.

PARTY FAVORS
• Artist's kit • Books on drawing • Drawing pencils • Drawing pads • Felt-tipped markers • Play clay • Poster paints • Stencils • Watercolor set

Store party favors in a tote bag. Number each bag.

Prior to the party blow up several ballons and put a numbered piece of paper inside each ballon. At the end of the party, let the guests "pop" their ballons and they receive the party bag that corresponds to the number in their ballon.
