CHOCOLATE CRISPY COOKIES

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 cups crisp rice cereal

1 (6 ounce) package semisweet chocolate morsels

Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beating well. Combine flour, soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture, beating well. Stir in the rice cereal and chocolate morsels.

Drop dough by heaping teaspoonsful onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 13 minutes. Cool slightly on cookie sheets; remove to wire racks.

Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
