Fourth of July

Fourth of July. A perfect time to celebrate America's independence.

The Fourth of July is such an easy holiday to celebrate. Casual attire, great weather, fireworks. What else could you ask for?

The theme colors are the traditional red, white and blue. You can coordinate your party, decorations, and attire to make your party a hit. Serve the traditional American foods of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, watermelon and apple pie. Choose a nearby park or relax at home by making your backyard into the most entertaining place to celebrate this 4th. Invite family and friends and have your own fireworks at home.

Party Invitations
• Purchase small American flags at your craft store. Write your party information on the small flag with a felt pen.

• When you send out your invitations, tell your guests to come dressed in red, white and blue.

• With red, white or blue construction paper, cut out stars. Write party information on each star.

Party Decorations
• Decorate your home with red, white and blue. • Hang an American Flag outside your front door. • Give your guests “Happy Birthday America” buttons. • Purchase patriotic pails at your local party store and fill them with red, white and blue candies.
• Use patriotic flag tableware. Matching dinner plates, luncheon napkins, cups and invitations can easily be purchased at a local party store. • Place red, white and blue balloons on your mailbox to show guests the party location.

Party Activities
•Say The Pledge of Allegiance.
• Have a water balloon race. • Have a Family Parade. Parades do not have to be big. Have the family dress in their 4th of July best and march around your backyard or neighborhood block. • Have a Bike Parade. Gather your family and take your favorite bicycle route. Decorate bicycles with red, white or blue. See how many of your neighbors are also celebrating Independence Day. • Have a Fourth of July baseball game. Men vs. women. Dog owners vs. cat owners. One street vs. the other. Etc. • Obtain a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Read it to your guests. • Fireworks, fireworks, fireworks…. • Play Presidents’ Trivia
