Party Drinks and Beverages

Drinks are a great way to get your party started.

A signature drink is usually served before a meal. During the meal, you may then serve wine, beer, water or soda.

A signature drink should complement the menu, theme, and season. If your hosting a large number of guests, choose something that can be made in big batches so you can keep the drinks flowing.

Not every party requires a toast, but when your party is for a special guest of honor, a toast is most suitable. Here's a sampling.

The "Toast"

"May the best of happiness and good fortune be with you. Here's to a full belly, a heavy purse, and a light heart.
May our house always be too small to hold all our friends.
Here's to a friend. He knows you well and likes you just the same.
Here's to cold nights, warm friends, and a good drink to give them.
Make the most of life while you may, Life is short and wears away.
May the most you wish for be the least you get."

Several weeks before your party, make sure you have all the items you will need to make great drinks. Check our bar checklist for some suggestions.
