Pledge of Allegiance
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by the socialist minister Francis Bellamy (1855-1931).
The Pledge of Allegiance should be resited by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.
Military persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute.
